Arashi walking — also called Japanese interval walking — is an exercise method developed from research at Shinshu University in Japan. The method alternates between fast-paced walking (about 70% max effort) and slow-paced walking (about 40%) in repeating intervals.
Shinshu University research found that interval walking produced significantly greater improvements in aerobic capacity, muscle strength, and blood pressure compared to continuous moderate-paced walking — even at the same total calorie expenditure.
The method went viral after being popularized on social media as part of the Japanese wellness movement. JWT is the app built specifically for it.
Reviews
What people are saying about the JWT app.
"The interval timer alone is worth it. I tried doing this manually with my phone timer and it was a nightmare — JWT handles the whole thing so I can actually focus on the walk."
"I've been walking for years and never felt like it was doing much. Switching to interval walking with this app and two weeks in I can feel a real difference in how tired I get climbing stairs."
"Simple and clean. No subscription, no upsell, just the walking tracker and timer I needed. The streak feature keeps me going out even on days I don't feel like it."
